The Chester Conservation Committee will hold a regular monthly meeting this coming Tuesday, May 3 at 7:00 pm at the Chester-Andover Elementary School.

It's time to activate spring and summer floral displays around Chester by supporting the planter campaign organized by Chester Townscape, a committee of tax-exempt Chester Community Alliance. Chester Townscape is once again soliciting contributions to purchase large containers that will be filled with soil and planted with flowers. These planters will be placed in key locations throughout the town to show that Chester is a thriving and welcoming place to visit, shop, and live.

They've trained hard for months, pushing through sweat, tears, and even a little blood -- all to increase their stamina, improve their skill, and face down personal challenges. The 3rd - 6th grade wrestlers of the Springfield VT Wrestling Team recently wrapped up their tournament season by competing at the Vermont State Championship in Vergennes.

The Springfield Community Chorus Spring Concert directed by Ken Olsson will be held on April 30th at the White Church in Grafton at 7:30 pm and on May 1st at the First Congregational Church in Springfield at 3pm.

Please join us on Saturday, April 16, 2016 to do maintenance on the Lost Mine Trail. We will meet at the trail head at 9 AM. We have scheduled two guided hikes in May, so we need to clear and spruce up the trails for our invited guests.

Just a sample of some of the extremely hard work put forth by our K-6 kids yesterday; our two youngest wrestlers each faced down some very hard opponents in what amounts to their State Championship, the final battle of their wrestling season -- kudos to Brock Martin for going the distance even when you didn't think you could, and congrats to Izic Putnam for placing 2nd in your bracket! Well done, you two!

With four tournaments under their collective belts, the grapplers of the Springfield Youth Wrestling Program are ready to hit the State Championships. Excellent progress is being shown by all the kids - whether working on their sprawl, half-Nelson, or single-leg take-down, each of these youngsters is ready to throw down on the mats in a final tournament over the next two weeks.
