Two services for Ash Wednesday will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 313 Main Street in Chester on Wednesday, February 10 at 12 noon and 6 p.m., which includes the spoken Eucharist and disposition of ashes.

St. Luke's Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper takes place on Tuesday, February 9. 5:30 p.m. in Willard Hall at the church at 313 Main Street in Chester. It is a great family tradition always held on the Tuesday evening before Ash Wednesday -- when the forty days of Lent officially begin on our church's liturgical calendar.

Our camps are educational, hands-on experiences that bring children outside and exercise their minds and bodies. For years, Black River Produce has provided crates of fresh fruit to the many events held by the Springfield Wrestling Team. This year, the Springfield-based company is going a step beyond: Black River Produce recently supplied the young wrestlers with a check for $250 toward our fundraising goal of $10,500. The wrestlers, parents, and volunteer coaching staff wish to heartily thank Black River Produce for the wonderful continued support, as we close in on the final $2,000 needed for new wrestling mats!

The 2016 LEGO Contest taking place on Saturday March 5 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the NewsBank Conference Center, 352 Main Street, Chester, VT. This event is open to LEGOmaniacs Pre-K through Grade 8 and their families.

The Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser will be Friday, January 22nd from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm at the Springfield Congregational Church on Main Street. The cost will be $10.00 for Adults, $5.00 for Children 12 years old and under. Meals will be available to go. There will be a 50-50 raffle and you do not need to be present to win. Want to help plan a 250th birthday party for the Town of Chester? The Chester Select Board is looking for folks to join a committee that will plan our 250th Birthday Celebration in 2016. The roles are numerous and varied. With lots of help, it will be a grand celebration of our community.

Springfield Community Chorus starts its spring season January 4th and is inviting new members to join. No tryouts are required. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings at 7:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 21 Fairground Road, Springfield, Vermont.

Hello and Happy New Year! The Chester Conservation Committee will hold its first regular meeting of 2016 this coming Tuesday, Jan. 5th at 7:00 at the Chester-Andover Elementary School. Items for discussion include planning winter programs, updates on the proposed Brookside Walking Trail, and the Green Mountain Conservation Camp scholarship. The meetings are open to all and we welcome new ideas and suggestions for how the Committee can better serve the residents of Chester.
