Help The Black River Action Team Clean The Black River In Springfield This Saturday

posted Tuesday, September 3, 2019

Come help the Black River Action Team clean up the banks and bed of the Black River in Springfield! Registration opens on Saturday, September 7, at 8 AM at Riverside Middle School (13 Fairground Road, Springfield, VT). Enter from Chester Road (Rte 11) just across the river from McDonald's. Sign in, grab some work gloves and trash bags, pick a site to clean around town, and head out with a buddy.

Bring your 'treasures' back to the HQ table by 11 AM to help sort and tally the trash; then clean your hands, grab a complimentary hot dog (supplied by Black River Produce with buns from the VT Bread Company, grilled to perfection by members of the Trinity Church of Windsor and Springfield's Calvary Baptist Church), chips from Deep River Snacks, and refill your water bottle. Don't forget your free tee shirt, our 'thank you' for your hard work.

Want to work from the water, got your own boat? Contact BRAT Director Kelly Stettner to pre-select a site to launch and clean. Canoes AND small motorized boats needed!

Got a pickup truck? Your help would be greatly appreciated bringing a load or two of junk to the transfer station up the road a mile or two!

Special for 2019: enter to win one of many wonderful prizes in our raffle, courtesy of a wide variety of sponsors. Tickets are just $1 each or 6 for $5; must be present to win anything heavier than a gift certificate. Winners drawn at NOON.

Got questions? BRAT Director Kelly Stettner can be reached by email at [email protected] or by leaving a voice message at (802) 738-0456.
