Saturday, May 5 is Green Up Day

posted Friday, May 4, 2012

Here's an update on Green Up Day, May 5th from Frank Kelley, Chester's Green Up Day Coordinator.

Pick up Green Up bags at Town Hall, Chester Hardware and Chester Andover Elem School. Or reuse those plastic grocery bags to collect trash on the side of the roads.

Dumpster will be at Town Garage on Saturday, May 5 all day. No tires or hazardous waste in the dumpster.

If you find tires or other large trash and can't get it to the dumpster, make a neat pile by the side of the road and send Frank an email at [email protected].

Take a few pictures, make a few notes about what you find, Send it to Frank to include it in the report to Green Up folks.

GREEN UP TO RECOVER!

Volunteers needed for Irene related clean ups, spring and summer.

Governor Shumlin and his Irene Recovery Officer, Sue Minter, asked Green Up Vermont to officially partner with them. They are excited about what we have to offer through our community networks and widespread public awareness and respect for what Green Up Day and the on-going Green Up effort bring to our beloved state. This year's Green Up Day will be "business as usual" - cleaning up litter from roadsides and public places, and will serve as a "kick-off" to inspire continued volunteering for Irene related clean up throughout the spring and summer.
