Indie Bookselling in the Age of Amazon

posted Wednesday, August 17, 2016

Welcome Michael DeSanto, new co-owner of Misty Valley Books, to Chester on September 1, 2016 at 5:15 and find out how independent booksellers thrive in today's economy. Mike and Renee Reiner, owners of Phoenix Books, added Misty Valley Books to their family of stores on May 16, 2016. Now with four locations throughout Vermont, their business model defies the idea that indie bookstores are dead. Independent stores such as Misty Valley and other small businesses which are the lifeblood of Chester's economy can succeed with ideas and practices that Mike and Renee have implemented in their stores. The focus of the evening will be to share these thoughts and have a conversation with attendees.

Mike and Chester Rotary will offer participants a chance to win two $25 gift certificates for purchases at Misty Valley. The event will take place at the Fullerton Inn, on the Common in Chester, from 5:15-6:30 PM, and is open to the public at no charge. Reservations for the September 1 presentation are not necessary but for planning purposes, including our free hors d'oeuvre buffet, please help us out by registering at [email protected].
