Nine youth wrestlers in grades 1-5 tackled tough opponents and racked up 8 wins at the recent Rumble in the Valley wrestling tournament in Brandon, VT.

Veteran Hunter Ferland and newcomer Izic Putnam each landed second place medals; wins were also claimed by Dillan Lacasse, Devin Snide-Tufts, Brock Lovell, and Cole Wright. Logan Roundy battled hard against tough opponents to show his increasing skill; Armando Stettner also worked his moves and never gave up. First-year wrestler Connor Azarigian continued his pattern of refusing to be pinned by his opponents.

Reflecting the team's high standards, the Springfield wrestlers were awarded the Team Sportsmanship Award, an honor bestowed by the 8 referees at the tournament. Coaches Floyd Buck, Jr. and Don Beebe are very proud of all the kids and are looking forward to upcoming tournaments as the team travels to Barre, Bennington, and Fair Haven, VT before the State Championship for grades 3-6 on April 9th.
