Six Things You Can Learn about Turkey: Where East Meets the West

The Rotary Club of Chester, VT welcomes Lisa Mobus, English and Social Studies teacher at Riverside Middle School, as the First Thursday speaker on Thursday, January 7th from 5:30-6:30PM at the Fullerton Inn. There is no charge and no RSVP is required.

Mobus will be speaking about her experiences in Turkey while traveling on a two week study tour in July, 2013. The tour, sponsored by the Turkish Cultural Foundation and the World Affairs Councils of America, took her to Istanbul, Gallipoli, Bursa, Ankara and several other cities. Mobus will share the rich and unforgettable character of this country, which historically and currently is a bridge between East and West. Attendees will leave with a good sense of Turkey's geography, history, culture, and character of its people. She will also provide a picture of the current political atmosphere compared to that of 2013.

Lisa Mobus earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Education in 1990 from the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas. She has been teaching at Riverside Middle School for 12 years. Previously, she worked at Mary Immaculate School in Farmer's Branch, Texas, the University of Dallas Rome Campus on the outskirts of the Eternal City and at Holy Family Catholic School on Pleasant Street in Springfield. Lisa lives in Springfield, VT with her husband and four children.
