posted Thursday, October 8, 2015

Derek Buchan will perform a benefit concert on Monday, October 19 at 6 p.m. at the Chester Baptist Church on Main Street in Chester. Derek is from Aberdeen, Scotland, and he and his wife Fiona make an annual journey to Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. In 2012 Derek performed in Peru, Vermont to benefit that church community. He is a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in piano teaching and holds a diploma in piano performance with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

Derek's hour-long concert on the grand piano will include about a dozen numbers from Mozart to Gershwin. There will be a small intermission. Following the concert, a reception of wine, hors'doerves and desserts will follow at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 313 Main Street, just down the street. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children 6 and over. The proceeds will be divided equally between the two churches to benefit their outreach programs.
