A Trip to Nepal, Spring 2015, Just Before the Earth Quaked

posted Monday, June 22, 2015

Chester Rotary will hold another in its series of First Thursday talks on Thursday, July 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Bradford Tavern in the Fullerton Inn. The program is free and the public is invited.

This month's speaker is T. Breeze Verdant of Brattleboro, VT, who will present photos and stories about his travels in Nepal during March and April of 2015. He returned home just 10 days prior to the devastating earthquake that took over 8,700 lives, shattered entire villages and destroyed many precious UNESCO world heritage sites.

This presentation focuses on a 14-day trekking trip in the southern section of the Annapurna Conservation Area, a region largely inhabited by an ethnic group known as the Gurungs, and a side trip to Chitwan National Park in the "Terai" flatlands. Breeze shares his experiences traveling with Chris Holme and his wife Manaslu Gurung, whose father was instrumental in setting up conservation areas and trekking services in Nepal. Please join us for this special live talk and slide show that will expose you to the beauty and culture of Nepal.
