Next Chester Conservation Committee Meeting Feb. 21 at Chester Town Hall

posted Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Hello Everyone,

At the last Chester Conservation Committee meeting, we discussed how the group can better serve our community. We are confident our efforts to organize Green Up Day, maintain the hiking trails at the Chester Town Forest and Green Mt. High School, and to present the Enchanted Forest event each Fall are worthwhile and appreciated. But is there more we could be doing?

To help answer that question, we have invited David Pisha, Chester's Town Manager, to meet with us on Tuesday evening, February 21 at 7:00 in the upstairs meeting room of the Chester Town Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to have a dialog regarding projects the CCC could be involved in that would meet the needs and interests of the residents of Vermont. Some of the possibilities brought up by the group members include:

  • additional cleanup or other assistance for those experiencing flood damage last fall.
  • being part of a dialog with mountain biking enthusiasts looking for places to ride in Chester.
  • fostering ideas/projects to get residents and visitors outdoors enjoying the natural resources we have in Chester.
  • sponsoring an effort to develop a better sidewalk network in parts of town that are used frequently by walkers and joggers.
  • offering more educational opportunities on topics such as invasive plants, songbirds, and forest management.

We welcome your input and hope you will join us. Please feel free to call me at 875-2418 if you have questions.

We'll look forward to seeing you!
Mary Beth Adler
