Springfield Youth Wrestling Program Grapplers Ready To Hit The State Championships

posted Friday, April 1, 2016

With four tournaments under their collective belts, the grapplers of the Springfield Youth Wrestling Program are ready to hit the State Championships. Excellent progress is being shown by all the kids - whether working on their sprawl, half-Nelson, or single-leg take-down, each of these youngsters is ready to throw down on the mats in a final tournament over the next two weeks.

A special shout out to Hunter Ferland, who earned himself a pair of "CHAMPION" titles for wins in Barre and Bennington. Multiple trophies were collected by the whole team in Bennington, with all wrestlers facing down some of the toughest opponents of their young careers. Middle schoolers Skyler Congdon, Raymond Lacasse, and Brandon Bennett also competed in the Bennington tournament, battling it out through the afternoon.

The team heads to Fair Haven on April 2nd for the K-2 championship, followed by the state championship for grades 3-6 in Vergennes on April 9th.
