Springfield Wrestlers Thank "Gauntlet-Runners"

posted Monday, October 3, 2016

Uniforms. Headgear. Tournament fees. The expenses of running a wrestling team add up. The Springfield VT Wrestlers work hard on the mats, and even harder in the trenches... the fundraising trenches, that is. Most recently, the 2nd Annual Color Gauntlet 5K Fun Run saw ?66? runners and walkers, and many enthusiastic volunteers throwing the home-made, food-coloring-dyed cornstarch powder.

Between runner registrations, raffle ticket sales, tee shirt sales, and simple cash donations, the event netted a little over $1,000 on the day of the run.

A huge shout-out to The Silver Bullet food wagon; for the second year in a row, these fine folks have donated all the proceeds from their foods sales at the Gauntlet to the team - this year, the total was just under $400!

Dan Cole of 5 Seasons Entertainment kept toes tapping and spirits high with his selection of music and his DJ equipment; Kelley Sales & Service provided a $100 gift certificate which was raffled off during the Gauntlet (congratulations to Stacey Tufts on holding the winning ticket!)?; many other certificates and items were donated and will be raffled off at a later date?.

The team greatly appreciates all the area businesses and organizations supporting this year's Color Gauntlet: Boccaccio's, Claremont Savings Bank, JH Dunning, Jim Ballard's Precision Valley Auto Sales, Shanghai Garden, Small Wonders Window Cleaning, SNAP Fitness, Springfield Auto Mart GMC, Vianor Tire, Auto Connections, Backline Central, Black Rock Steakhouse, Headquarters for Men, Muse & Associates Real Estate, One Credit Union, Oriental Palace, Dr. Philip Larkin DDS, Sherwin-Williams, Springfield Animal Hospital, The Springfield Barber, Springfield Cinemas 3, Springfield Food Co-op, Springfield Pharmacy, Springfield Royal Diner, Riverside Restaurant, Tina's Hallmark, Value Service Center, Woodbury Florist, and Young's Furniture.

Experience a taste of wrestling in Springfield on Saturday, November 19th at a free scrimmage, held at Riverside Middle School from 9am till noon.
