Vermont Institute of Contemporary Arts Presents Drawing With Your Eyes Closed

posted Thursday, March 15, 2012

Vermont Institute of Contemporary Arts presents another exciting and unique workshop, Drawing with Your Eyes Closed

Please join VTica for a drawing workshop meant to explore the ideas of abstraction and the subconscious. Inspired by the Surrealist movement we will be exploring a variety of drawing materials and techniques. No prior drawing experience is required, there will be group drawing as well as individual work time. We will improve our drawing composition through formal elements of drawing and design used in nontraditional and abstract ways. Creating harmony and balance through our compositions, we will create engaging images inspired by whatever lies inside of you as an artist.

Come prepared to experiment, explore and have fun.

Instructor
Christina M.Z. Anderson practices and teaches; she paints guides, creates and explores. Her work, in various media (collage, oil and acrylic painting, mixed media and textiles, and sculpture) has been exhibited in venues from the small restaurant to a public museum. She recently relocated from Chicago where she lived for most of her life and attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In Chicago she also led curriculum development and gave instruction at a private arts studio and in Chicago Public Schools. In Puebla, Mexico she built a permanent museum exhibit with the endorsement of an international arts foundation and the help of high school students. She has, at times, participated in large-scale public works, opened and operated a do-it-yourself storefront gallery, and done live painting to live music. She is a creator and an appreciator of fine art, she loves and celebrates expression.
