How Healthy Are Our Streams?

If you fish, live by a stream, use our waterways for recreation, or have dealt with the ravages of Tropical Storm Irene, this informative talk about the Williams River Watershed and its fishery will be of interest to you.

On Tuesday, May 12th at 7:00 p.m., Marie Caduto, Vermont Agency of Natural Resources Watershed Coordinator for the southeastern Vermont watersheds, and Ken Cox, Fisheries Biologist of the Vt. Dept. of Fish and Wildlife will discuss the current conditions of the Williams River and its tributaries. They will address topics of fish health, concerns about erosion and invasive plants, and what can be done to improve the current conditions. They will also share lessons learned through dealing with the aftermath of Irene. Ms. Caduto will discuss an existing program through which volunteers monitor the water quality of the Williams River, and how this information is used.

This talk is sponsored by the Chester Conservation Committee. It will take place at the First Universalist Parish, also known as the Stone Church, on 211 North St., Rte. 103 N, Chester, VT. The talk is free of charge, though donations are gratefully accepted.
