April Vacation Wilderness Programs for Young Adventurers at The Nature Museum at Grafton

posted Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Time in nature increases happiness, health, and wellbeing in kids. Turn off the TV, switch off the laptop, hide the smartphone, open the door, look up, and get outside! This April, The Nature Museum at Grafton is offering three unique, outdoor adventures for young Vermonters during local school vacation.

Wild Walkers: Wilderness: A Way of Life on Tuesday, April 21: Wild Walkers is a partnership between The Nature Museum and Vermont Wilderness School, offering day-long outdoor experiences for youth ages 10 to 14. Wilderness: A Way of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 21, from 10 AM to 3 PM in the woods and fields around The Nature Museum. Campers will explore the time of "pre-contact" and learn how to live like Native Americans did over 300 years ago. The Wild Walkers will explore their senses while in nature by foraging, fire-making, shelter-building, and more. We will show respect to the earth by taking only what we can use. This camp day will activate the body and engage the mind through wilderness awareness. Early-bird registration fee by April 7 is $30 per camper for this five-hour program. After April 7 (if space remains) the fee is $35.

Brave Bears: Free Spirits on Wednesday, April 22: Brave Bears is The Nature Museum's series of natural science programs geared for youth ages 6 to 9. Free Spirits will be held Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 from 10 AM to 3 PM at The Nature Museum. We will become one with nature by learning how the Native Americans lived through games, exploration, and activities. We will hike into the woods, investigating the area surrounding The Nature Museum, the nearby Grafton pond, and a local stream. At the end of the day we will gather tinder, light a fire, roast some marshmallows and tell stories. What will your Brave Bear discover as they become keen for the green, one with nature, and part of the caring clan? Early-bird registration by April 8 is $25 per camper for this five hour program. After April 8 (if space remains) the fee is $30.

Brave Bears: Be An Eco-Hero on Thursday, April 23: Brave Bears is The Nature Museum's series of natural science programs geared for youth aged 6 to 9. Be an Eco-Hero camp day will be held on Thursday, April 23rd, 2015 from 10 AM to 3 PM at The Nature Museum. We will celebrate Earth Day by encouraging your child to become their own "evergreen" hero! Join forces with The Nature Museum and take care of the planet by learning all about the 3Rs: recycling, reusing, and reducing. The program includes indoor and outdoor pro-planet activities, group nature games, and the chance to create some cool eco-art. Our Brave Bears will learn how we impact our earth and how they can make changes for the better. We invite all Brave Bears to become Eco-Heroes: put on your super hero cape and join us for this great green vacation camp! Early-bird registration by April 9 is $25 per camper for this five hour program. After April 9 (if space remains) the fee is $30.
