Acting Workshop Comes to Chester Beginning December 5th at 6pm

posted Wednesday, October 23, 2013

This workshop conducted by Tom Nielsen, will be 2-3 hours per session for 6 weeks. The first half is devoted to relaxation and sensory awareness exercises for the body and mind. These are useful tools when preparing for a role or performing on stage or film. The second half of the workshop is devoted to scene study - breaking down a script, justifying behavior, creating a character, psycho/physical behavior, listening and improvisation.

Students will showcase their new skills in a final performance, and will be provided with mentoring at the end of the workshop.

Tom Nielsen has over 25 years of experience on both sides of the camera, as well as stage. Tom left NYC for the Green Mountains of Vermont, and currently resides in Grafton. His early career brought him to NYC to study acting with the legendary teacher Lee Strasberg. After many off-off Broadway performances, Tom found his place on the daytime drama "Guiding Light". He also was a freelance director and taught acting at Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. Tom has been fortunate to have worked with some of the world's best performers. He is now willing to share this invaluable experience with you in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Don't miss out!

Tuition: $20 for the 6 week session. The workshop will run December 5th, 12th, 16th, January 2nd, 9th and 16th. Each session will begin at 6pm. Adults 16 years old and older.
