A Letter From The President Of VTica

posted Thursday, December 27, 2012

Dear Friend of VTica --

I write, as we approach the end of 2012, to extend warm wishes from all of us at the Vermont Institute of Contemporary Arts (VTica) to all of you who have been touched in some way by the awakening of an artistic sensibility in your awareness of art in life here in Chester, Vermont.

The journey of our lives takes many unexpected turns, some challenging and others full of joy and meaning. This year just closing has been full of both of these, and we are the richer for having taken the ride together with you. We don't know where this road may lead us, but we have met many new and fascinating people along the way who both love art and have become new friends. We have also re-met many existing friends and have come to know them more deeply than would have otherwise been possible.

In the end it is not only about the art; it is about the connections we make among ourselves along the way that make this journey together worthwhile. We have celebrated here at VTica the most incredible exhibits of: flat art, three-dimensional art, living art, dance, song, poetry, lectures, films, workshops, happenings of various sorts, and at each occasion strangers have come together and have left as friends with something important they discovered they shared in common. Who knows what the future may hold.

We look forward to continuing to serve your artistic interests from our base here in Chester, so long as it is possible to do so; and we also look forward to your support and feedback. Tell us what you would like to see and do in the world of Contemporary Arts now, so that we can incorporate your thinking into the planning and program design which has already begun for the New Year.

In any case, we wish you much artistic and spiritual health, wealth and happiness for the year(s) to come. Stay in touch. Let us know where you are, what you hunger for, what you love.

Many thanks for sharing with us the year just past. Many hopes for sharing the year(s) to come together.

Yours,

Robert M. Sarly, President of VTica
