8:30am - Noon

Please join the Chester Conservation Committee (CCC) for a morning of trail stewardship on Chester's Lost Mine Trail, or simply come out and enjoy a hike on this popular local trail.

If you are interested in swinging a tool or snapping some loppers, we could use the help. We will be assembling at the trailhead (up the road from the reservoir) at 8:30am and working until about noon. The trail work will include trimming brush, improving the tread, completing a reroute project begun in April and potentially flagging a new spur trail to the reservoir.

While some trail tools will be provided, please bring your own loppers, pruners and bow saws if you have them. Dress appropriately with proper work shoes/hiking boots and work gloves. Bring water and snacks. Come late or leave early, but all are encouraged to help for as much time as they can.

Directions to the parking area/trailhead: Follow Rt. 11 West out of Chester. After the brick Army Reserve building on your right, take an immediate right onto Balch Road. Go .8 of a mile and bear right at the fork onto Water Farm Road. Proceed down the hill, past the reservoir and up the road to the clearly marked trailhead.

Shoulder parking is available or you can park just below the reservoir and walk up the road. CCC members will be working near the trailhead throughout the morning.
