Springfield Community Chorus

Calling all singers! Calling all people who like to sing! Calling all people who like singing in a group! The Springfield Community Chorus, directed by Ken Olsson, welcomes all newcomers, from teen years on up. (Full-time students don't even have to pay our $30 per season dues!) This is his second year with us and we are looking forward to a wonderful year. We also welcome back people who have sung with us other seasons. There are no auditions, but the ability to read music is very helpful, and singers must be able to sing accurately. This year's December concert will be a cappella (without accompaniment) and the ability to sing on pitch accurately is very important.

Rehearsals start on Monday, September 12, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. and continue each Monday night until our Saturday, December 1st concert at 7:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Chester. Our second concert is at the First Congregational Church UCC, 77 Main St., Springfield, VT on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. Rehearsals take place at the Springfield, Vermont, Unitarian-Universalist Church, 21 Fairground Rd. in Springfield. This is the small brown building just above Riverside Middle School, on the right if you're going up the hill.

Director Ken Olsson has chosen a very interesting program of songs including Agnus Dei by Samuel Barber as one of our showcase pieces. We are also singing: O Magnum Mysterium (Tomás Luis de Victoria), A Christmas Carol (Charles Ives), and Little Drummer Boy (arr. Katherine Davis) just to name a few!
