All Chester residents are eligible for a free library card and access to all services.
The Whiting Library offers a wide array of resources including:
* Books for children and adults * DVDs and videos * Newspapers * Magazines * Audio books for kids and adults * Large print books * Access to the Vermont Online Library - a collection of research databases * Two public computers with high speed internet access * Photocopier - 15 cents per page
The Whiting Library will be having a program to encourage children to read aloud. A child may sign up to read to a licensed therapy dog (Oreo - a shitzu) on a Wednesday at 3pm. Dates are 2/17, 3/17, 4/7 and 5/12. You may attend one or all but please sign up ahead. Sharon Tanzer, Children’s Librarian

Charlotte Edgar was the winner of the Whiting Library Quilt raffle, drawn on Dec. 5, 2009, during the Chester "Overture to Christmas" weekend. This lovely Wool "Crazy Quilt" was crafted by the Quilters at Whiting Library and donated to raise funds for the Children’s Library, Young Adult collections and for Special Programs.
