Have you always wanted to have beautiful, healthy fruit trees, but lacked the confidence or experience to give it a shot? Michael Phillips, well-known author of The Apple Grower, The Holistic Orchard and his newest book My Corrhizal Planet: How Fungi and Plants Work Together to Create Dynamic Soils, will be The Nature Museum's featured speaker on Friday, March 10, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. Phillips will present a program entitled, "Growing Healthy Fruit Trees and Berries, the Biological Way" at NewsBank Conference Center, 352 Main Street, Chester, Vermont.

This March, The Nature Museum will offer unique, open-air adventures for youth. The Nature Museum's natural science camps are instructive, hands-on experiences that get youngsters outdoors and exercising their minds and bodies. Accredited environmental educators teach lessons that build resiliency skills in a safe and nurturing environment.

Springfield wrestlers bring home the wins - medals as well as personal. The team brought home two JV State Champions, Mason Olney and Jayson Webster, from the competition in Barre, Vermont last weekend. Brandon Bennett brought home 2nd place; bronze medals were earned by Matt Prosser and Tim Bapp-Cederholm. In fifth place were Trent Lewis-Briere and Skyler Congdon; Mo Stettner claimed sixth place, and everyone cheered on teammates Gillian Guy and Skylar Wallace through some very tough matches.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 313 Main Street in Chester, VT is February 28, beginning at 5:30 p.m., the day before Ash Wednesday when Lent begins. It features our spectacular pancakes, sausage patties and fruit salad. The church school waiters are the ticket for bringing the families to the tables.

Bryan Pfeiffer, biologist, field naturalist and writer, will present "Birds, Butterflies, Backyards and Beyond," a fresh view of the wild on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Newsbank Conference Center, 352 Main Street, Chester, VT. With vivid images from nature and tales from the frontiers of wildlife science, Pfeiffer will offer practical advice for creating wildlife habitat in our own backyards and developing a wildlife ethic on a warming planet.

The Nature Museum today announced the first of its year-round public program speaker series for adults featuring preeminent speakers who will address issues related to biology, earth science and natural history. The winter lineup will feature nationally known naturalist and distinguished wildlife tracker, Sue Morse; biologist, field naturalist and writer, Bryan Pfeiffer; award winning author and organic orchardist, Michael Phillips.

Boys and girls in grades K-12 have been training hard and traveling to tournaments around the tri-state area to test their mettle against the best of New England, and it's paying off.
