Longtime Chester resident Lew Watters will be exhibiting a series of photographs at Whiting Library on Main Street in Chester during the months of December and January. The free exhibit, open during regular library hours, focuses on his rediscovered joy of photographing life in Chester, travel in the southwest, nature and wildlife, celebrating grandchildren, photography classes at Saint-Gaudens NHS, and capturing the art of handcrafted dolls made by his wife Bonnie. The public is invited to his opening reception on Wednesday, December 4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the computer and reference room.

Vermont Institute of Contemporary Arts (VTica) has planned an exciting two-fold exhibit this holiday season entitled Something to Celebrate. VTica has collaborated with The Vermont Watercolor Society (VWS) and seventeen of its members experimenting in abstract work. The VWS members were asked to depart from their figurative, literal style and submit work that is reflective. This grouping of 32 paintings, titled Out of Bounds will be appreciated on different levels of meaning, form, rhythm and color along with reflecting innovative, bold, celebrations of evocative feelings.

A workshop to prepare boxes for Operation Christmas Child, an outreach ministry of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Chester, will be held in Willard Hall on Friday, November 15 from 2 to 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served, so come for an hour or longer to cut, paste, color and decorate.
