Dear Friends and Neighbors,
We are fortunate to live in Chester, Vermont. Our town has a rich history, a vibrant economy and a community of people who care deeply about this place. The natural setting of Chester—its rivers and streams, fields and hills—frames two beautiful historic village centers. The countryside is a working landscape of forests and farmland that, along with the businesses in our village center, form the base of our rural and village economies. Chester offers something for everyone.
Ourchester.org is being started by a diverse group of Chester residents from every walk of life and from all over town. We are your neighbors and friends, casual acquaintances and the friends whom you’ve yet to meet. Together with you, we are the community we call Chester.
Our short term goal was to work with residents and public officials in Chester in order to help our town to plan and grow in ways that retain the best attributes of our village life and economy. We believe it is possible to have a vital, growing economy while sustaining our community spirit, preserving our history, maintaining the exceptional quality of our educational system, protecting our environment and fostering the quality of life that we’ve all come to enjoy. We can all work together to find the right balance.
Our long term goal is to evolve into a community calendar and bulletin board. This will be a place where community groups will have opportunity to post their information and events of local interest. Please contact me if you have questions, comments or content.
